The Spearfish Rotary Club recently rolled up its sleeves to help keep Spearfish beautiful during this month's community cleanup effort. The project was coordinated by one of the club's newest members, Angela Smith, who organized volunteers for the monthly Beautify Spearfish initiative. Thanks to her leadership and the dedication of fellow volunteers, 15 community-minded individuals came together to make a visible difference in the area.
he group collected two very full bags of trash and removed a surprising assortment of discarded items from the community. Among the finds were a saw, a section of gutter, a mattress topper, a metal cable, and an impressive collection of golf balls. Volunteers counted 78 whole golf balls and two half golf balls—close enough to celebrate a total of 79!
While some of the items brought a few laughs, the cleanup effort served an important purpose by helping maintain the beauty and safety of public spaces throughout Spearfish. The project is a great example of Rotary's commitment to community service and environmental stewardship.
