The Sioux Falls West Rotary Club proudly hosted its 18th Annual Rock & Roll for Hope, raising more than $27,700 to support Hope Haven International Ministries (HHIM). These funds will provide life‑changing wheelchairs to individuals around the world, restoring mobility, dignity, and opportunity.
This year’s event was a powerful reminder of how Rotarians amplify hope when we come together in service.
Held at the Country Club of Sioux Falls, guests enjoyed an exceptional evening of fellowship, great food, and outstanding service.
Stories That Inspire Service
The program featured impactful stories from Hope Haven International Ministries, an organization with a remarkable global legacy:
- 30+ years of service
- 155,000+ wheelchairs distributed
- 110 countries reached
- 15 global partners
- 10 volunteer wheelchair workshops
- 2,440,000+ volunteer hours contributed
- 750+ containers shipped worldwide
- 300+ distribution trips completed
These numbers reflect a movement powered by volunteers, Rotarians, and compassionate communities.
Chad Harms, who has participated in three HHIM distribution trips, shared firsthand stories of how wheelchairs transform lives—opening doors to education, employment, independence, and dignity.
Michael Feltes, Board President of Sioux Falls West Rotary, spoke about his father, who contracted polio and received a wheelchair. That single gift changed the trajectory of his father’s life, enabling him to pursue education, build a family, and fully participate in his community. His story captured the heart of why this mission matters.
A Night of Music and Generosity
For eighteen consecutive years, the DNR Band has generously donated their talent to Rock & Roll for Hope. Their classic rock kept the dance floor full and the energy high throughout the night.
Thanks to the generosity of attendees—through donations, sponsorships, and ticket purchases—the event raised over $20,000, plus an additional $7,700 during the special ask. Every dollar directly supports Hope Haven’s global wheelchair distribution efforts.
Upcoming Opportunities to Serve
Rotarians interested in taking their service a step further are invited to join upcoming Hope Haven wheelchair distribution trips. Dates are being finalized, but planned trips include:
- Romania – October 2026 (Rotary‑affiliated)
- Philippines – November 2026 (Rotary‑affiliated)
- Kenya – October 31 to November 11, 2026 (HHIM trip, not Rotary‑sponsored)
