This month is Youth Service month. Many of the clubs in our District focus on supporting youth in their communities. A number also support youth overseas. Some of the ways I see our clubs supporting youth are through scholarships, recognizing seniors throughout the year at their club meetings, and sponsoring scholarships at the School of St. Jude in Tanzania, Africa.
It would be interesting to know how many thousands of dollars in scholarships our clubs award for seniors in their communities. Think about the many clubs that pack backpacks for the weekends for kids or run a food bank that helps kids study because they aren't hungry. What about the school supply drives or the bike helmets? Think about the children who can get around now because they have a wheelchair or other mobility device. What about educating children about human trafficking so they don't become victims or go to their schools to read with them so they can read at their grade level. Thank you to those who mentor students in our schools or those who are coaches for their baseball, softball, soccer, lacrosse, basketball, hockey, football, etc., etc teams.
The Rotarians in our District make a huge difference in so many lives in our District and our World!! Never forget all the things you do that make a difference in someone's life. Because if it wasn't for you, who would do it!?!
