I want to thank Jennifer Rollins and Mike Gibson for heading up the Water Initiative that is being planned.  With April being Environment month it is so appropriate that we are asking not only the clubs in our District to do a project concerning water but to know that in the surrounding 5 states there will be another 259 clubs with another 8,177 members doing the same thing!!
This is showing our communities that we are People of Action!  I hope that your club will be a part of this and that you will invite others in your community to help out and show them the great things your club does.  We can't do projects anymore and not let people know the good things that we do.  This is an opportunity to showcase our good work.

Our District is also participating in a water project in Africa with another District to make our money go farther and impact more people's lives.  More information to come as it gets going.  We are also finalizing plans to help with cleanup and prevention on the Motagua River in Guatemala.  This is a huge project that we will be a part of to reduce the amount of plastic flowing in to the ocean each year.  Thank you to Rich Burns, our District Foundation chair, for getting this project started.

Helping with these projects are possible because of your contributions to The Rotary Foundation.  Because of you, we will be providing clean water so that children can attend school because they aren't sick.  We will help prevent plastic pollution in our oceans to make it healthier for ocean life as well as for us.  It won't be fixed overnight but we need to start now.  We are planting the seeds of trees we will never enjoy the shade of but our grandchildren will!!!
