The first priority in Rotary’s Action Plan is to Increase Our Impact. As I have my club visits, I am impressed by the number of projects that are being done. But at the same time, I feel there is an opportunity to do even more projects.

Congratulations Clubs! Thanks to all of you, District 5610 officially had a net increase of 15 members in 2023-2024 Rotary year with 98.91% existing member retention. The last time we increased membership was 2015. District 5610 is the only District in our Zone to have an increase in membership. Congratulations to all.

Our club was one of 1,000 from countries all over the world initially invited to send a message to the moon! In early 2025, a SpaceX Falcon Heavy Rocket will lift off from Cape Canaveral in Florida carrying the Griffin Moon Lander that will have a chip onboard containing messages of PEACE from Rotary clubs all over the world.

On Thursday, August 1st, the Rotary Club of Sioux Falls West partnered with the East Side Lutheran Church in Sioux Falls to help with the Mobile Food Pantry. Club members helped unload trucks of donated food items, sort through them, and display everything. As customers arrived, our team assisted with checking them in, distributing the food items, and carrying out groceries.
Less than a mile from Downtown Sioux Falls, students at Hawthorne Elementary are learning of belonging, mastery, independence, and generosity. The lessons come as a result of the Title I School's Circle of Courage, One-Book-One School Program--a program supported through a donation of books from Downtown Sioux Falls Rotary.

The Rapid City Rushmore and Rapid City Rotary clubs recently installed a Peace Pole in the Rapid City Memorial Park at the site of the Berlin Wall memorial. The Peace Pole project started in 1955 in Japan after World War II. The pole is inscribed on each side, in different languages, with the words “May Peace Prevail on Earth.”

With service networking moving to this new platform, Rotary Showcase has been retired. All Rotary and Rotaract projects that were posted on Rotary Showcase have been migrated to the Service Project Center, which is being released in phases.
