I am delighted to share an exciting update on the continued impact of your generous support of sports and arts at St Jude's. In 2022, your club came together to support the purchase of sports uniforms and equipment for our students. This year, those same resources helped our students proudly represent St Jude's at (UMISSETA - Umoja wa Michezo ya Shule za Sekondari Tanzania), Tanzania's national secondary school sports and arts competition.
Students first competed at the District Level earlier in the quarter and then progressed to the regional level, most recently, achieving outstanding results. Please click here to view photos of our secondary students at the opening ceremony of UMISSETA.

From our St Jude’s Secondary Girls' School:
• 83 students qualified for district-level competitions.
• 72 students progressed to the regional level.

From our Smith Campus:
• 134 students qualified for district-level competitions.
• 67 students progressed to the regional level.
We are especially proud to share that 45 St Jude's students have now qualified for the UMISSETA National competition, taking place from 18th to 29th June 2026.
Of these:
• 27 students qualified in ball games and athletics.
• 18 students qualified in performing arts.

This is the highest number of students St Jude's has ever qualified for the national competition, surpassing our previous record of 43 students. Our students also make up approximately 37.5% of the entire regional delegation selected to compete at the national level.

In another exciting milestone, three St Jude's staff members, Mr James, Mr Samson, and Mr Stephen, have been selected as mentors for the National Competition, a first for our school.

As our students prepare to compete nationally, we wanted to thank you. Your support continues to provide young people with opportunities to develop their talents, build confidence, and represent their communities with pride. Seeing students compete in their St Jude's sports kits and use equipment made possible through your generosity is a wonderful reminder of the lasting impact of your gift.

Thank you, all at Rotary District 5610, for believing in our students and investing in their futures. We look forward to sharing the results of the National Competition with you soon.

Warm regards,
Bernadette Odunga
