Colonel Sonya Morrison and members of the 185th Air Refueling Wing were presented with the honorary distinction of the 2024 Keyway Award for their notable contribution to Siouxland's economic growth and community development; their personal work to improve our community and make Siouxland a better place to live; for their dedication, and for their efforts as true community leaders. The Keyway Award is presented annually and recognizes a person(s) in the community who has contributed to the economic well-being of Siouxland.
 
 
Colonel Sonya Morrison, Commander of the 185th Air Refueling Wing, spoke about their mission of mid-air refueling to support U.S. Air Force operations around the world and their vision to empower the 185th teams. Medical, maintenance, operations, and mission support groups are part of the 185th which supports Iowa Air National Guard missions when activated. The 185th is a KC-135 aircraft tanker unit with 8 aircraft on base and 1,000 part-time and full-time service members.
