Beginning on Earth Day, April 22, 2026, Rotary District 5610 will join Rotary districts across five states and parts of Ontario, Canada in the Unite for Water Initiative, a collaborative effort bringing together Rotary Clubs to expand access to clean water and sanitation.
Rotary Clubs throughout the district which includes South Dakota, and parts of Minnesota, and Iowa, will participate through service projects, fundraising efforts, and community partnerships designed to support sustainable water and sanitation solutions locally and globally.
“Rotarians are people of action. When our community or environment needs help, it is in our nature to collaborate locally, regionally, and globally to take action to create lasting change. We are at a critical time when the quality and quantity of clean water for drinking, fresh water for the environment is not a guarantee. We must Act today for Water Tomorrow,” said District Governor Nominee, Jennifer Rollins.

A Multi-District Collaboration
The Unite for Water Initiative represents a powerful example of Rotary’s ability to create large-scale impact through collaboration. Rotary Clubs across participating districts will work together to raise awareness and support projects that bring safe drinking water, protect fresh water, and bring awareness to behaviors that support both to communities in need.
Every club is doing slightly different watershed cleanup, water awareness, or water testing type activities starting on Earth Day through June. Together, the participating districts aim to support all participating Rotarians, of which there are 9685 throughout 264 clubs (communities) and five districts as we Act now for Water Tomorrow.
