(DG Bruce with Spearfish Rotary Club)
I want to thank you for all you do as Rotarians.  We are all blessed in so many ways and I want to thank you for sharing your time and talents in your communities and the world.  I asked many clubs who would do all the things in their communities if they weren’t there and no one really had an answer.  That shows how important you and your clubs are.  It reminds me of the quote from Margaret Mead, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it is the only thing that ever has.”

You are that group.  Thank you for changing the world!!

Another year soon comes to a close but we have 6 months to go in our Rotary year.  The next 6 months has many things planned:

We are finalizing plans for the Public Image workshop led by Patrick Harrison will be on January 10th in Sioux Falls and January 11th in Rapid City.  This will be an event you won’t want to miss!!

The week of April 22 (Earth Day) is when we are asking each and every club in our District to do a project concerning water.  With the media ideas we have we look for this to have an impact on our communities as well as our clubs.  We want to show everyone that we are People of Action and an organization that they want to be a part of.  Mike Gibson and Jennifer Rollins are leading this effort and will continue communicating with you.  Please do all you can to participate in this initiative.

The Rotary International convention will be held in Taipei, Taiwan this coming June.  There are 10 people registered to attend.  What about you?

We are changing the date for the District Leadership meetings.  Starting in January, we will be meeting on the 2nd Thursday of the month at 3:00 pm Mountain/4:00 pm Central.  We are changing the date to make it easier to attend.  Please make the change on your calendar and plan to attend.

December is Disease Prevention and Treatment Month.  You have saved millions of children from being paralyzed from polio, you are saving lives in Egypt because of early detection and education of cervical cancer prevention, you are making it possible for children to attend school because they are drinking clean water and not getting sick, you are educating children and adults on the importance of sanitation in their communities to help stop the spread of diseases.

You may have notice that I used you, not we.  You are the one that makes it possible for Rotary to help people the world over live healthy lives.  No other organization in the world does more to make this world a better place to live than Rotary.  And YOU make that possible!!

Finally and importantly, I want to thank you for all you do as Rotarians.
