The Luverne Rotary Club proudly celebrated local youth during this week’s meeting as the winners of the Rotary Four-Way Test Essay Contest took the spotlight as featured speakers. This year’s contest highlighted thoughtful reflections on social media and its impact—an especially timely topic.

Each student incorporated Rotary’s Four-Way Test into their essays, demonstrating how its principles remain relevant in today’s digital world:

  • Is it the TRUTH?

  • Is it FAIR to all concerned?

  • Will it build GOODWILL and BETTER FRIENDSHIPS?

  • Will it be BENEFICIAL to all concerned?

Contest Winners:

🥇 1st Place: Kaleb St. Clair
🥈 2nd Place: Axel Scarset
🥉 3rd Place: Rory Nolz

Cash prizes were awarded to each of the winners in recognition of their outstanding work. As the first-place winner, Kaleb St. Clair’s essay will advance to the Rotary District 5610 competition.

The Luverne Rotary Club extends special thanks to Rotarian Mike Smith for organizing this year’s contest and to 6th grade English teacher Deb Hoogendoorn for encouraging her students to participate and apply Rotary’s values in such meaningful ways.

The Four-Way Test continues to inspire the next generation of leaders, reminding us all that its message is not only timeless—but perhaps needed now more than ever.
