On April 4, 2024, the Rotary Club of Le Mars held their Annual Banquet and community celebration. A feature of this event was honoring as Paul Harris Fellows, Rotarians and stand out community members who by living Rotary’s 4-Way Test, have made impacts to the communities they serve.
This year’s recipients were Rotarian Jim Beckwith and non-Rotarian community member Iris Hemmingson. Over 60 people attended the celebration which included representation from 8 additional Rotary Clubs. The theme for the evening was the “Flight to End Polio”. Special guests and keynote speakers were the actual pilots of “Flight to End Polio” Peter Teachan and John Ockenfels who in 2022, flew a single engine airplane around the world highlighting Rotary’s “End Polio Now” campaign. The take away message of their captivating story was as “Rotarians, we don’t hope, we BELIEVE” we will soon eradicate the deadly disease of polio from the world.
During the evening’s event, $3,986 was raised to support “End Polio Now”. With the Gates Foundation dollar match of three to one, $11,958 will go towards Rotary’s fight to end polio. The Le Mars Rotary Club would like to thank everyone for their participation with Rotary, it’s programs, and commitments to “Creating Hope in the World”
