The theme for the month of December is Disease Prevention and Treatment. I’m sure you are all aware of the End Polio Now campaign which has been in place for many years. We are so close to polio eradication in our world that we can’t let up now. Other efforts worldwide include combatting diseases like malaria, HIV/AIDS, Alzheimer’s, multiple sclerosis and diabetes.
Rotary does so many things internationally. Each of us makes this happen through our involvement. You can find more information about the work we are doing on the Rotary website rotary.org. Prevention is very important which is why we focus on health education and bringing people routine vision, hearing and dental care. All of this
happens because of the work each of of us does to support The Rotary Foundation.

This is the time of year where we are inside more than outside and can be exposed to many viruses. Tried and true preventive measures to minimize transmission of illness are coughing into your sleeve and washing hands. Masks are encouraged to keep others safe. If you haven’t already done so, it’s not too late to get your annual flu and Covid-19 vaccinations. Vaccines protect us and also the vulnerable people in our lives—the elderly and newborns and infants. Please do what you can to keep the people in your
lives healthy and happy. December is the month for giving and receiving.

Let’s do our best to not share illnesses. Happy holidays to you all.
