Thanks for all the clubs who extended their warm welcome when I came over to present the Polio update. So far I have been to nine clubs and scheduled to visit four in the next few months. Would like to visit all the clubs in the District in person to present the Polio update as a program. Please let me know when you have a spot in your club’s program schedule for me to be there.
We have 3 wild polio cases reported in Afghanistan and 3 in Pakistan so far this year.
The Polio Plus fund is heading towards a short fall of 5 to 7 million dollars this year also as we did last year. Our pledge is $50 million each year to eradicate polio and Gates foundation will match it 2 to 1 with $100 million. The good news is D5610 surpassed last year’s total contribution even before December 2023. I really appreciate the enthusiasm and your commitment to eliminate Polio.
If you have not sent in your contribution to Polio Plus fund yet, this is the time. Those who pledged to be a Polio Plus society member ($100/yr pledge until Polio is eliminated from this world) , I owe an apology, as the certificates and pins have not been sent out yet. I am going to Evanston in July to sort this out.
