As I continue traveling across our district and visiting Rotary clubs, I’m reminded again and again of what makes Rotary so special—the people. From large clubs to small clubs, every visit has given me an opportunity to meet dedicated Rotarians, hear inspiring stories, learn about meaningful community projects, and experience the fellowship that brings us together. Each club has its own personality and traditions, but everywhere I go, I see the same Rotary spirit: people coming together to make a difference.
I’ve traveled many miles, shared countless smiles, enjoyed some great meals, and made memories that I know I’ll carry with me long after this Rotary year is over. These club visits are one of the most rewarding parts of serving as your District Governor.
So, rather than another formal update, I thought it would be fun to share a little of the lighter side of life on the road. I have been asked few questions about my travels, memorable moments, fellowship, and some of the surprises that come with visiting clubs throughout the district. I thought I'd share my finding with you!
Q1. You’ve logged a lot of miles visiting clubs across the district this year. What’s been your favorite part of being “on the road” and meeting Rotarians in so many different communities? A: (DG Mike's response)Meeting so many really interesting Rotarians and their reasons for their “WHY” as to why they joined Rotary and the really outstanding service projects they are doing in their communities.
Q2. What’s one memorable moment or surprise you’ve experienced during your club visits so far? A: (DG Mike's response) There have been a few, and some of them are personal in nature as to some Rotarians personal health situations and how they continue to make the effort to attend their Rotary meetings. We both (Vasthi and myself) are somewhat amazed and surprised how long some of our long-term Rotarians have been in Rotary and they continue to be actively involved in their various projects.
