For those of you who weren’t able to make the District Conference I thought I would give a condensed version of my “State of the District.”
I have been able to visit all of the clubs but two and feel pretty good about what is happening in our District. It is encouraging to see all of the things that our clubs are doing and the impact they are having in their communities. One question that I posed to clubs was to think about all of the things your club does for your community and then to think about who would do that work if the club wasn’t there. Just about all of them couldn’t think of a group that would do that work. We need to make sure your communities know what you’re doing and to ask them for help. How else will they know how irresistible your club is!?!
I’ve talked about the four priorities from Rotary’s Action plan: Increase Our Impact, Expand Our Reach, Enhance Participant Engagement and Increase Our Ability to Adapt. Please discuss them at your next meeting and to see how utilizing them can make your club even better!
The format of the Monthly Leadership meeting has been changed to be more educational and I have invited the club presidents to join the call. If you would like to join us, let me know. Some of our speakers are peace fellow graduates, polio survivors, and a Rotary International Board of Director. My goal is to provide information that can be taken back to the club members.
Our District Membership Committee has done a fantastic job and has 10 steps on the District website that you can use to increase membership in your club. YOU JUST HAVE TO USE THEM!!
The District Foundation Committee has allocated our District Designated Funds (DDF) to the clubs who applied. These monies come from donations to The Rotary Foundation three years ago that are now returned to our District.
The District Public Image Committee is working on increasing the visibility of our clubs by posting the information and photos that you post on the website and pushing them out to as many followers as possible. If you have any questions about how to increase the exposure of what your club is doing get a hold of Scott Bader, District PI Chair; Linda Liddell, District Administrator or Pam Blankenzee, District webmaster. Those who have asked for help are glad they did!!
Remember, our clubs need to do more projects, ask for help so others know about the great things we do, and be welcoming to those that share our value of Service Above Self
