I recently returned from the Rotary International convention in Calgary, Canada. This was my 4th convention and I think it was the most inspiring. I truly feel that you aren’t aware of all the good in the world that Rotary accomplishes until you attend an international convention. Not only are we on the verge of eradicating polio from the world, we are working on eliminating cervical cancer in Egypt and working on it in the United States.

We are helping clean up the Motaqua river in Guatemala that contributes 2% of the plastic in the ocean. We are helping clubs provide mental health services, prevent deaths from opioid overdose, combating human trafficking, etc., etc. The list goes on and on. YOU are working on all of these issues as a Rotarian!

If you want to be more involved in an issue you are passionate about you can check out a RAG. A Rotary Action Group. There are many different groups dealing with real life issues. WASHRAG that work on water issues, RAG for Diabetes, Addiction Prevention, RAG for Peace,RAG Against Slavery, Menstrual Health and Hygiene, Blindness Prevention and Blood Donation.

What about a Fellowship? Do you enjoy quilting, stamp collecting, wine, beer or whiskey tasting, RVing, scuba diving, home exchange travel, motorcycle riding, etc., etc. If you have an interest in something there is probably a Fellowship you can join. What could be more fun than having a group of friends who share your interest!?!

This is a list of just a few opportunities that you have to be involved as a Rotarian. You just have to take that first step and inquire about them. If you have an interest in something let me know and I will help you make some contacts.

Until then, let’s Unite for Good and continue to do Good in the World.
