On April 4 and 5, members of the Rapid City Rushmore Rotary Club and the Impact Club by Rushmore Rotary rolled up their sleeves and got to work—literally—for a powerful cause. Partnering with Sleep in Heavenly Peace, our volunteers took part in a Bed Build to support local children in need.
Sleep in Heavenly Peace is a nationwide organization with one mission: "No Kid Sleeps on the Floor in Our Town!"

Their goal is to provide beds to local children ages 3–17 who may not have one of their own. Twice a year, they host community Bed Build events, followed by deliveries throughout the year to families in need.

During this two-day event, a team of eight dedicated volunteers from our club came together to transform donated lumber into something special. We sanded, assembled, and stained the wood using a vinegar-based solution that helps protect against bed bugs and adds a natural finish. Every hand had a role, and by Day 2, the organized piles of prepped lumber made the build smooth and efficient.

By the end, we were covered in sawdust and smiles, knowing that our hard work would bring comfort to children in our own community. There’s something incredibly fulfilling about working with your hands to create something tangible—and meaningful.
